ABOUT ME
NICE TO MEET YOU,
My name is Nakenya. I am a longtime Martinez resident, community organizer, and mother. I have a degree in Veterinary Technology and have worked in animal hospitals and shelters, rescuing and rehoming pets. When I became a mother to a child with a rare genetic disease, my priorities shifted. My focus is now his health, well-being, and making our city the best it can be for my son and all Martinez residents. If I am able to find the time; my hobbies include Muay Thai and making my own holistic hair products.
A few years ago, I experienced a life altering event in this town. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and reignited my passion to strive for a safer and more diverse community for families like mine. During this time I was able to meet the challenges of motherhood all while championing equality and inclusion in this town. The success in juggling the different aspects of my life makes me know that I can meet the challenges of being an elected leader.
